On my last trip to NYC I was given the opportunity to exhibit my series “The Bronx-La Villette”
I started this project two years ago after an initial encounter with Alexandra Maruri.
She is the founder and the director of Bronx Historical Tours, an agency organizing touristic tours around the Bronx. She asked if she could show me around The Bronx to meet the locals and take portraits of them.
One year later I did the same thing in my Parisian neighborhood, resuting in an exhibition in the public library “Bibliothèque Levi-Strauss” in the 19th district in Paris.
DNA Info wrote an article in response to the exhibit.
When I told Alexandra that I was going back in NYC, she put all her energy into organizing an event around my pictures. The result was an amazing three day marathon including a great opening Wednesday 6 September at the Bronx Drafthouse
The opening was the ideal occasion to wear a bow-tie designed by Beaux Garçons, a parisian brand I have been working with for the last two years.
I want to thank Alexandra, all the staff of Bronx Drafthouse, Eric Thébault and the town hall of the 19th district of Paris, Jonathan Marin, Amanda Bossard, Michelle A. Daniels, Janet Jimenez, Heather Archer-Dyer, Philippe Tourriere, and all the staff of the Levi Strauss library.
Finally, thank all the people from The Bronx and La Villette who made this project possible.
